BWMS
Commissioning Testing of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS)
he International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the Ballast Water Management Convention (BWM Convention), which requires vessels to comply with the D-2 Standard by September 2024. To meet this requirement, the installation of a Type-approved Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) is mandatory.
Before a newly installed BWTS can be used on board, it must undergo Commissioning Testing in line with BWM.2/Circ.70/Rev.1 (effective June 1st, 2022). A successful test and report are essential to obtain the International Ballast Water Management Certificate.
HSI performs on-board Commissioning Tests using LuminUltra equipment, ensuring vessels meet IMO regulations and achieve full compliance with international ballast water standards.
